Réginald Ray (born 31 October 1968 in Cucq), France, is an French former footballer and current assistant manager of Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Playing career

Réginald Ray spent the majority of his 15-year career in the French lower divisions. In 1991, whilst playing in the Championnat National (French third division) with FC Montceau, Ray was the league's top scorer. In 1998 Ray was top scorer again, this time in Ligue 2 whilst playing for Le Mans.

Coaching career

In 2008, Ray became the Under 21 Manager for US Boulogne. As well as coaching the Under 21's Ray also helped coach the teams strikers. In 2010, after 2 years at Boulogne, Ray left the club in order to become assistant manager to Frédéric Hantz at SC Bastia. On 1 November 2015, it was reported that former Olympique Lyonnais manager Remi Garde was on the verge of becoming the new manager of Aston Villa F.C., and after unsuccessful attempts to bring his former coaching staff with him, would be appointing Ray as his assistant manager.[1]
