History
Regiment Oos Transvaal (ROT) was established on 1 October 1964. It was later known as “die Rotte”, (the rats), the abbreviation of the regiments name. Its headquarters was based in the Magistrates Court complex in Brakpan in 1968, but in 1975, the Headquarters had moved to Benoni. By 1977 it was organised as a 20mm anti-aircraft cannon regiment, with six batteries each of 18 guns.
