Rebelde or Rebel Rio! (English: Rebel^[1]) is a Brazilian telenovela produced by Rede Record. Written by Margareth Boury, the show is inspired by the original work created by Cris Morena. It is a remake of the Mexican telenovela Rebelde, which in its turn was adapted from the original Argentine telenovela, Rebelde Way.

The main cast is composed of Lua Blanco, Arthur Aguiar, Melanie Fronckowiak, Chay Suede, Sophia Abrahão and Micael Borges - six students in a school called "Elite Way" that form not only a close friendship, but a band.

Synopsis

When Pedro (Micael Borges) was 13 years old, his father committed suicide, and since then he lives with his mother Beth (Cláudia Lira) and his brother Raul (Lucas Cotrim). When her mother gets him a scholarship at the renowned school of Rio de Janeiro, "Elite Way", he is reluctant to go, but when he learns that one of the students of the institution, Alice (Sophia Abrahão), is the daughter of Franco Albuquerque (Luciano Szafir) whom he blames for the death of his father, Pedro accept go to school as a way to seek revenge. Pedro and Alice fall in love, and romance will go through various obstacles, including the envy of Pilar (Rayana Carvalho). The principal's daughter, Jonas (Floriano Peixoto), she is the great villain of the plot. Students live in a boarding school, or sleep in the institution from Monday to Friday and can return to their homes in the final weekend to reunited with their families. In Rio, Pedro and his family will live in the neighborhood "Vila Lene", with other characters, such as Tereza (Cristina Mullins), owner of the canteen Elite Way, Genaro (Edwin Luisi), a widower who has a lively restaurant, the family of Dadá (Zezé Motta) and the Republic of the teacher of literature Vicente (Eduardo Pires), home to some students.

Parallel to the fictional band created the rebels with the protagonists of the series: Lua Blanco (Roberta), Sophia Abrahão (Alice), Mel Fronckowiak (Carla), Arthur Aguiar (Diego), Chay Suede (Tomás) and Micael Borges (Pedro). They interpreted the main themes of fiction that were heard during the episodes.

The band had great success thanks to the good ratings of the series in Brazil, where it was displayed.
