Randy Bean
Randy Bean (born 1956) is a business executive, author, thought-leader, and chief executive officer and managing partner of NewVantage Partners, a management consulting firm which he co-founded in 2001. Bean is known for his observations on business culture and business adoption in the Information Age, and on the emergence of Big Data.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
Work
Bean co-founded and serves as chief executive officer of NewVantage Partners, a management consulting and executive thought-leadership firm founded in 2001 to advise Fortune 1000 businesses on information strategy. Bean previously held executive positions with Harte-Hanks Communications, and two venture-backed start-up companies. He began his career at Bank of Boston.
Writing and Speaking
Bean is a regular contributor to The Wall Street Journal, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Harvard Business Review, and is frequently quoted in leading industry publications. He was the subject of interviews on the future of Big Data in Information Week [9] and by Silicon Angle and Wikibon in February 2016.[10] Bean has been featured as an expert in the Mighty Guides publication "Data Disruption". The Boston Globe published an article, "Big Data can aid companies of all sizes", adapted from Bean's article in MIT Sloan Management Review, entitled "Overcoming Legacy Processes to Achieve Big Data Success". [11]
Personal life
Bean was born in Brockton, MA in 1956, and obtained a BA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1978, where he studied literature and history. He was appointed in 2001 to the National Council for University Libraries for Washington University in St. Louis.[12]
Bean has served since 2010 on the board of The James Merrill House and Writers-in-Residence Program,[13] which maintains the legacy of James Merrill, a 20th Century American Poet, who lived and wrote in Stonington Borough, CT.
Bean resides with his wife Elizabeth (Beth) Black in Boston, MA and Stonington Borough, CT.
