Randy Awrey
Randy Awrey (born April 27, 1956) is an American football coach, former player, and former track and field coach. He is currently the head football coach at Concordia University Chicago, a position he had held since 2013. Awrey previously served as the head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College (1990–1994), Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin (1994–1998), and Saginaw Valley State University (1999–2007). He was also the head track and field coach at St. Lawrence University from 1986 to 1989. He has been inducted in the athletics hall of fame at Northern Michigan University, St. Lawrence, Lakeland, and Saginaw Valley State.
Playing career
Awrey played football as a defensive back and running back at Northern Michigan University. As a sophomore in 1975, he scored the winning touchdown on a 68-yard run in the second half of the Camellia Bowl, earning MVP honors for the game and giving the Northern Michigan Wildcats the NCAA Division II National Football Championship over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.[1]
Coaching career
Awrey is currently the head football coach at Concordia University Chicago. Awrey was the head football coach at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Michigan, for nine seasons, from 1999 until 2007. His coaching record at Saginaw Valley State was 76 wins and 27 losses on the field. At Lakeland College his head coaching record was 35–14–1. He has the highest winning percentage of any head football coach at both Saginaw Valley State (.738) and Lakeland (.714).[2]
