Rampurhat subdivision is a subdivision of the Birbhum district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Rampurhat municipality, Nalhati municipality and eight community development blocks: Mayureswar–I, Mayureswar–II, Rampurhat–I, Rampurhat–II, Murarai–I, Murarai–II, Nalhati–I and Nalhati–II. The eight blocks contain 65 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Rampurhat.
Area
Apart from the Rampurhat municipality and Nalhati municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 65 gram panchayats under eight community development blocks: Mayureswar–I, Mayureswar–II, Rampurhat–I, Rampurhat–II, Murarai–I, Murarai–II, Nalhati–I and Nalhati–II.[1]
Blocks
Mayureswar–I block
Mayureswar–I block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Baraturigram, Dakshingram, Mollarpur–I, Bajitpur, Jhikodda, Mollarpur–II, Dabuk, Kanachi and Talowan.[1] Mayureswar police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Mallarpur.[3]
Mayureswar–II block
Mayureswar–II block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Daspalsa, Kaleswar, Mayureswar, Ulkunda, Dheka, Kundola and Satpalsa.[1] Mayureswar police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Kotasur.[3]
Rampurhat–I block
Rampurhat — I block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Ayas, Dakhalbati, Kusumba, Bonhat, Kasthogora, Mashra, Barshal, Kharun and Narayanpur.[1] Rampurhat and Margram police stations serve this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Rampurhat.[3]rampurhat-i block
Rampurhat–II block
Rampurhat–II block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Bishnupur, Hansan–I, Margram–I, Budhigram, Hansan–II, Margram–II, Dunigram, Kaluha and Sahapur.[1] Margram police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Rampurhat.[3]SITUATED AT MARGRAM
Murarai–I block
Murarai–I block consists of rural areas with seven gram panchayats, viz. Chatra, Gorsha, Murarai, Rajgram, Dumurgram, Mahurapur and Palsa.[1] Murarai police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Murarai.[3]
Murarai–II block
Murarai–II block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Amdole, Kushmore–II, Paikar–I, Jajigram, Mitrapur, Paikar–II, Kushmore–I, Nandigram and Rudranagar.[1] Murarai police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Paikar.[3]
Nalhati–I block
Nalhati–I block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Banior, Haridaspur, Kaitha–II, Barla, Kalitha, Kurumgram, Bautia, Kaitha–I and Paikpara.[1] Nalhati police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Nalhati.[3]
Nalhati–II block
Nalhati–II block consists of rural areas with nine gram panchayats, viz. Bara–I, Bhadrapur–I, Noapara, Bara–II, Bhadrapur–II and Shitalgram.[1] Nalhati police station serves this block.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Lohapur.[3]
Legislative segments
As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal:[4]
- The municipal area of Rampurhat and the area under the Rampurhat–I block will be part of the domain of the Rampurhat assembly constituency.
- The Rampurhat–II block and the Nalhati–II block will form the Hansan assembly constituency.
- The Mayureswar–I block and the Mayureswar–II block will together form the Mayureswar assembly constituency.
- The Nalhati–I block and the gram panchayats of Kushmore–I, Kushmore–II and Rudranagar under the Murarai–II block will form the domain of the Nalhati assembly constituency.
- The other gram panchayats under the Murarai&II block as well as the area under the Murarai–I block will form the Murarai assembly constituency.
- The Mayureswar constituency will be an assembly segment of the Bolpur (Lok Sabha constituency), which will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates.
- The constituencies of Rampurhat, Hansan, Nalhati and Murarai will be assembly segments of the Birbhum (Lok Sabha constituency).
