Rampura Agucha

Rampura Agucha is a mine of zinc and lead in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan state of India. It has world's largest deposits of zinc and lead.[1] Hindustan Zinc Limited is owner of this mine. HZL is near of village AGUNCHA and RAMPURA.

History

Rampura-Agucha deposits were discovered by T.C. Rampuria in August,1977 a geologist with the Government of Rajasthan's directorate of Mines and Geology. Hindustan Zinc ltd. started drilling in February 1980 and report regarding estimate of deposit submitted in 1981.The development of this mine started in 1988 and first ore production being in March 1991. Rampura-Agucha is an open pit type mine.

Smelter for this mine

Chanderiya smelter was produced in the Chittorgarh district to refine the zinc-lead ore of this mine.[2]

Rampura Agucha is today the world's largest zinc producing mine.

Location

It is located 220 km from Jaipur.It is located north to Bhilwara but north-west to Shahpura. Rampura-Agucha is 15 km south-east of Gulabpura on NH 79.[1] Area of mines SULTANPURA,DEVPURA,BADLA,AGUNCHA,KOTHIYA NEARLY AREA
