Rajeev Samant
Rajeev Suresh Samant is the founder and CEO of Sula Vineyards India's largest winery.[1]
He was born in Mumbai, India.[2] He completed his education from Stanford after receiving full scholarship. He later joined Oracle Corporation as one of the youngest managers there. After working there for a couple of years, he felt the need to come back to India and do something of his own. He started plantation of wine grapes on their family estate in Nashik in January 1996. These were the first wine grapes planted in the region. Sula Vineyards was established in 1999.[2] Sula the name has been derived from his mothers name, Sulabha.
Sula Vineyards has been India's largest wine producer for a very long time. Sula is ranked no.1 in terms of market share, revenues and exports. Sula is also India's highest awarded winery. Wine tourism in India also started with the facilities of tasting room that Sula started in 2005.
