Rahsaan Noor (born Rahsaan Noor Islam; September 24 1986) is a Bangladeshi American film actor. He made his debut in international cinema with Simanaheen (Bengali).[3] Upon release, the film was a critical and commercial success, and Noor received positive reviews for his performance.[4] In 2015, he starred alongsided Monica Dogra in The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim.[5]

Early life

Noor was born on September 24, 1986 in Chicago, USA to Bangladeshi parents. His father immigrated to the US in the 1970s and is a software engineer; Noor's mother is a physician. He grew up in Chicago with his younger brother who is an IT consultant.

Noor graduated from Lake Forest College with honors in Economics and International Relations, and was a member of the varsity Men's Basketball team. Playing the point guard position for the team, he was named an Academic All-American.[6]

Career

In 2013, Noor made his debut in international cinema with NEQUA Studio's Simanaheen opposite Ismat. The movie became a major commercial success and Noor's performance received critical acclaim.[7] The Dhally/Tolly Report wrote, "(Noor) took the challenge of learning to act in a new language and succeeded. A very fine young actor, Rahsaan (Noor) is someone to watch out for."[8] The Tribune India added that Noor had "put new-age Bengali cinema on a global map."[9]

Noor next starred in the 2015 film, The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim, alongside Monica Dogra. His portrayal of Taz Rahim was described by critics as a "charming, fun, and exciting experience".[10] IN 2015, Grazia India called him an actor "on-the-brink-of-fame".[11]
