Rachel Parsons (born November 19, 1997) is an American ice dancer. With partner Michael Parsons, she has competed three times at the World Junior Championships, placing 15th in 2012, 8th in 2014, and 4th in 2015. They have won seven medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series.

Personal life

Born in Rockville, Maryland, Rachel Parsons is the sister, younger by two years, of Michael Parsons.[1] She has made the honor roll every semester at school consistently.[2]

Career

Parsons started skating at age six because she wanted to learn how to stand up on the ice.[2] After joining the Wheaton Ice Skating Academy in June 2006,[3] she started focusing solely on ice dance. With Kyle MacMillan, she won gold on the juvenile level at the 2009 U.S. Championships and then gold on the intermediate level at the 2010 U.S. Championships.[2]

She teamed up with her older brother, Michael, in February 2010.[4]They won gold on the novice level at the 2011 U.S. Championships and pewter on the junior level at the 2012 U.S. Championships. They were the only American ice dancers to represent the United States at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, where they placed 4th. They were also selected for the 2012 World Junior Championships in Minsk, Belarus, where they finished 15th.

During the 2013-14 season, the team placed second at both of their assigned Junior Grand Prix events. They qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final where they finished sixth. They won bronze at the junior level at the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and capped of their season with an eighth place finish at the 2014 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

The following season, the team medaled again at both their Junior Grand Prix events, but did not qualify for the Final.[5] However, they won silver on the junior level at the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and moved up four spots from last season when they placed fourth at the 2015 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
