R-1 Rules

1. R-1 is a kind of sport that brings together all kinds of impact martial arts. No restling, no takedown, no submission hold. The only exception to the rule - a clinch, when you are shocked. (See para. 2).

2. If you're shocked by your opponent, you can try to enter into a clinch under-hook (hold under both arms) to recover. When you have recovered, you should get out of the clinch. A throw from a clinch means automatic disqualification. You can not enter into a Muay Thai clinch: if it happened once, the combat may continue while you get a warning; if it happened a second time, you get a second warning followed by disqualification.

3. You may not takedown: if it happened one time the combat continues; the 2nd time means disqualification.

4. You are not allowed to finish off an opponent on the ground. If it happened once, and did not stop the fight, then the combat can continue. If it happened once, and led to the fight end, the combat should be replayed. If it happens a second time due to the same man fault, then he is disqualified.

5. No elbow punch, or disqualification.

6. If you knocked down the opponent, do not stand over it, just go back until the referee raises him up. If you have not gone one time, the fight continues, the 2nd time means disqualification.

7. In the clinch it is not allowed to kick more than two knee strikes.

The duration of rounds in R-1

Rating fights: 3 rounds by 2 minutes

Title fights: 5 rounds by 2 minutes

Rating fights consist of three rounds by two minutes. Title fights consist of five rounds by two minutes and the rest - one minute. Can be assigned the eighth extra-round. The match can be completed by knockout, technical knockout, decision, disqualification, draw or no avail. The referee and ringside doctor have the right to stop the fight. A combat is judged by three judges on a ten-system: the winner of each round receives ten points and the loser gets nine or less; If the round is equal - both receive ten points. If, after five or seven rounds the sum of points is equal, the judges appoint one additional two-minute extra round. Judges judge only an optional extra round. If there is a draw after additional rounds, the judges evaluate the entire fight as a whole, considering even the slightest difference. Fight can be recognized as draw, if both fighters fall and can not get up at the same time, or in the case of accidental injury in the final stages of the combat. A draw provokes two fighters to commit to a rematch, if one of the fighters refuses or fails, the victory is awarded to his opponent. When the title combat results in draw the victory is awarded to the current champion automatically.
