Quinton Scerri (born in Zabbar, Malta) is a Maltese public person active in the broadcasting industry and a former political activist.

Biography

Scerri took his primary education in the primary schools at Zabbar and was subsequently educated at Saint Elias College. He later read a diploma in Higher Information Technology at the Malta College of Science and Technology. In 2011 Scerri graduated in Business Management and Marketing from College Cambridge International.

Since a very young age he spearheaded several successful projects and activities on a local and European level.

In 2003 Scerri started his broadcast career were together with a group of young enthusiasts hosted sever shows on former Super One Radio, today ONE Radio. This experience led him to host a number of top popular shows on the same station.

From radio to television.[1] Over the recent years Scerri hosted and produced several successful television programs including; STR82dPOINT , EGOS , Q , ONE MINUTE and Izolati.

Besides his work as a television producer, up till March 2013 Scerri lead the Labour Party’s mobile virtual network company; redtouch fone.[2] Under his tenure the company managed to achieve great results and has seen significant growth and success. Redtouch fone was a direct financial contributor for the Party’s own media structure. In September 2012 the company has also opened its own digital radio station on the digital platform; Kiss.

In April 2013 Scerri was appointed as a government official within the Ministry for Tourism and later moved on to the Ministry of Home Affairs and National Security,[3] after a cabinet which so the former Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella nominated and later appointed as a European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. In April 2013 he was also elected as Mayor of Zabbar,[4][5] when he received the largest personal mandate in Malta’s local political history.

Scerri resigned from Mayor of Zabbar and later moved out of politics after a controversial fall away with a left wing movement within the Labour Party. This decision created great turbulence within the inner circle of the Labour Party and the citizens of Zabbar.[6] A petition of nearly 5,000 signatures was also submitted to the Minister of Justice, Culture and Local Government.

Today Scerri works for the Public Broadcasting Services Ltd.
