Quick Gun Murugun is a 2009 Indian comedy film directed by Shashanka Ghosh and written by Rajesh Devraj. It is a spoof on Indian western movies, featuring songs, melodrama and action sequences including a duel in a traffic jam.
The film is based on a scene in Om Shanti Om where Shah Rukh Khan does a take-off, incorporating elements of Tamil actor Rajinikanth's performances.[1][2]
Quick Gun Murugan has been exhibited at the London Film Festival, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, the New York Asian Film Festival and in The Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMa).[3]
The film was dubbed in over 4 languages, including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Plot
Quick Gun Murugun is an unlikely superhero (played by Telugu actor Dr. Rajendra Prasad) a South Indian Tamil cowboy whose duty is to protect the world against arch villain restaurant owner, Rice Plate Reddy (played by Nassar), who wants to create the ultimate non-vegetarian dosa! The movie revolves around adventures of Quick Gun Murugun along with his love to-be Mango Dolly (played by Rambha) and Locket Lover (played by Anu Menon).
Murugan is a typical vegetarian cowboy who made himself into Quick Gun Murugan. The cowboy has to do something good for the world so he believes that vegetarianism is the need of the hour.[3]
Quick Gun Murugun enters into a battle that spans time and space, from a small south Indian village to Heaven and then finally to cosmopolitan Mumbai across 25 years. He is torn between Mango Dolly who loves him secretly and his first love Locket Lover and his loyalty is put to the test.
Mango Dolly gets hit by a bullet and while dying, she expresses her love to Murugun. Realising that he too loves Mango Dolly, he tells her that he loves her and she can "stay with him". Finally, Quick Gun Murugun is able to succeed in his mission by defeating Rice Plate Reddy.

Reception
On release, film received mixed to negative reviews. Harish V of Behindwoods.com gave a negative score of 1.5 out of 5 stars and said "Think before you step in, Mind it !!" and "Go for this if you have time to spare and you haven't seen the trailers of the movie yet."[4]
Rediff.com gave 3.5 out of 5, saying 'From his two-minute life span on a music channel, Quick Gun Murugan has come a long way indeed and deserves this full length feature dedicated to our very own Indian Cowboy with a buckle to die for (Stylists, may I please have a replica of the same?!). On the whole, QGM is as delicious as Mrs Murugan's dosais. As Rice Plate would have said, "A1, Tip Top!"'. Taran Adarsh gave this film 3/5 rating and described it as 'Quick Gun Murugan is an innovative experience. The adventures should appeal to the youth mainly.'Rajeev Masand of CNN IBN gave 3 stars as well. However, general public reception has been less enthusiastic, with the film generally 'flopping' wherever it has been released. Ashok Nayak of Nowrunning.com gave 3.5 on 5 stars and deemed that "Quick Gun Murugun is a tasty crisp dosa that should be enjoyed with a bit of popcorn and a lot of pepsi, but only in theatres. Go for it."[5]
