Queens of Camo
Queens of Camo, also referred to as QoC, is a Television Series and social movement that follows huntresses on their hunting expedition. The show focuses on the importance of educating the public on the unique issues surrounding women who hunt and is featured on Hunt It TV, TMP Outdoors, and 24/7 Hunting. Queens of Camo is also referred to as QoC and includes huntresses that refer to themselves as "Queens" from over 40 countries around the world.[1]
The series was created by Prestigious Films in Wichita, Kansas by filmmaker Nicholas Barton,[2] who himself has been a lifelong outdoorsman going on his first hunt with his father at 15 months old. His parents, Richard and Lisa Barton, are the owners of Hunter's Dream Guide Service just outside of Great Bend, KS. The central offices of the show have now been placed in Bedford, Texas - a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro to be closer to their core fan base.
Twice a year, Queens of Camo puts out a calendar, picturing huntresses all over the world, who submit their photos and are selected by votes from around the world.[3]
Demographics
Their largest demographic is in the United States followed by Canada with Australian Huntresses coming in 3rd. The cities with the largest contingents are Dallas, Wichita, and Houston.
Criticisms
Various anti-hunting and animal-rights activists have been strong critics of the movement - arguing that hunting is an unethical practice. Show director Nicholas Barton, has been quite vocal about how he feels hunting is a strong, ethical alternative to conventional large scale livestock farms, where the majority of the United States get their meat.
