QuScient is a service provider for colleges and universities across the world, with a focus on those in the US and UK. It offers higher and further education institutions services in consulting and process audit, admissions and enrolment, support and helpdesk, content creation, and internet marketing.

Their products and services focus on introducing automated workflows in enrolment and business processes. ProRetention™, their flagship product, addresses the problem of student retention.

History

QuScient was founded by Babu Thiagarajan [1] in 2006 as a tax and accounting BPO company that tied up with companies and certified public accountants in the US for creating offshore back offices. The year 2006 proved to be a turning point for QuScient when the CEO of a campus and online university based out of southwestern United States asked Babu Thiagarajan for services outside tax and accounting. Knowing Babu's consulting and IT background, the university wanted him to study the runaway student attrition and devise ways to encourage retention. Through his study, Babu learned why students were leaving for other colleges or simply dropping out. It became evident that there were fundamental lacunae in the manner student issues were addressed, departments were operating in silos, and student touch points were missing, particularly during their early days at the university.

In 2010, after a few sales and assignments in the US, QuScient found its next client across the Atlantic—a university in London, UK. QuScient has over the years worked with other UK universities and colleges as well, to centralise admission processes, establish student support helpdesks, reinforce e-learning systems, and increase student service levels.

Product

QuScient[2] services its clients mainly through the deployment of ProRetention™, a software product that serves as a student service overlay designed to increase student retention in higher education institutions. It packages workflows for several aspects of student experience and university/college administration, both online and on-campus.

Acquisition

In 2012 QuScient acquired Minglebox.com, [3] India's number 1 higher education portal connecting students to colleges in India and abroad. Minglebox is the brainchild of a group of IIT-IIM graduates who saw an entrepreneurial opportunity in addressing the needs of the millions of students in India looking for information and guidance for higher education in India and abroad.

Awards

QuScient is ranked among the Top 100 IT innovators by NASSCOM[4] for identifying and developing a new market for higher education products and outsourcing solutions. The company was also ranked amongst the top 5 BPO companies by si100, an annual listing of the top 100 technology companies founded and managed by Indians in the US.
