Pure Rock Fury is the fifth full-length album by rock band Clutch. It was released in 2001 (see 2001 in music), and contains 13 tracks. This album features guest appearances by Scott Weinrich, Leslie West, and Dan and Joe from the band Sixty Watt Shaman. The album yielded a minor hit with "Careful With That Mic...", a rap metal parody which CMJ complimented for its clever rhymes.[2] The song "Immortal" is featured in the video game Hitman: Contracts. The song "Pure Rock Fury" is featured in the video game MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
"Immortal" was originally released with different lyrics, and a different arrangement, as the song "Baby I'm Down" by Leslie West on Mountain, Leslie West's first solo album (which some consider to be the first Mountain album). Clutch covered the song on this album, rearranging it and changing the lyrics. Clutch's version features a guitar solo by Leslie West. Mountain then covered this version of the song on their Mystic Fire album.
Clutch vocalist Neil Fallon has stated that of all Clutch's albums, this is his least favourite.[3]
