Pulvinar
Pulvinar can mean:
- the area of the pulvinar nuclei within the thalamus of the brain
- a layer of extrasynovial fibrofatty tissue contained within the acetabular fossa of the hip
- an "empty throne" or cushioned couch for occupation by a deity. At the Circus Maximus in ancient Rome, a Pulvinar was elevated so both the Gods and the mortal sponsor of the chariot races could observe the games.
