Prime University (Bengali: প্রাইম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) or PU is a private university in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The university was established by the Private University Act 1992.[1] PU is affiliated by the University Grants Commission Bangladesh. The University was established in 2002 at Mirpur, Dhaka. PU is the first venture of the Prime Foundation.[2]

Campus

Prime University is located at 2A/1, North East of Darus Salam Road, Section-1, Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.[3] A huge building having an area of 55000 sq. ft is used for the accommodation of the University. The permanent campus of Prime University is under construction at 114-116, Mazar Road, Section-1, Mirpur, Dhaka.

Library

The Prime University Library[5] has different resources like books on different subjects, reports and bound journals, CD ROMs and databases, Audio & Video cassettes etc. Presently, there are more than 30,000 books covering Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce, Particularly Business, Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Computer Science and Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, History and Culture, Sociology as well as different language courses like English, Arabic, Chinese, Korean etc. The Prime University Library Subscribes International Journal like The Economist, Riders Digest, Indian Time etc. The CD ROMs containing contents of different books, matters relating to Environments, Historical Incidences, Culture, Culinary Arts etc. It has also provide a Digital Library that is a focused collection of digital objects that can include text, visual material, audio material, video material, stored as electronic media formats (as opposed to print, micro-form, or other media), along with means for organizing, storing, and retrieving the files and media contained in the library collection.

Journals and Publications

Prime University Journal[7] is an interdisciplinary journal used to publish in January and July of each calendar year and is registered with National Serials Data Program, Library of Congress (ISSN. 1995-5332). The journal contains research-based articles on Social Science, Law, Education, Business, Arts, Science and Technology. The first journal[8] was published in July, 2007 (volume I) by CRHRDP. Also it publish news letter at same calendar year.

Convocation

Prime University held its first convocation[9] on 14 October 2008 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center. Almost 3,200 students achieved their graduation degrees from that ceremony. Yet it is the only convocation for Prime university and the second one will be held around 2015.
