Powys Teaching Health Board

Powys Teaching Health Board is responsible for healthcare in Powys, central Wales. It was established on the 1st October 2009.

It manages Brecon War Memorial Hospital, Bronllys Hospital, Glan Irfon Health and Social Care Centre in Builth Wells, Knighton Hospital, Llandrindod Wells County War Memorial Hospital, Llanidloes War Memorial Hospital, Machynlleth Community Hospital, Montgomery County Infirmary, Victoria Memorial Hospital and Ystradgynlais Community Hospital.

In March 2015 the board ordered an investigation into concerns over care at Brecon War Memorial Hospital between 2010 and 2012.[1]

The board was forced to take over Machynlleth, Corris and District Medical Practice after the GP partner handed in his notice because shortage of staff and rising workload has made it 'impossible to carry on'.[2]
