Pomigliano d'Arco is an municipality in the Metropolitan City of Naples in Italy, located north of Mount Vesuvius.

The city is home to several automobile plants (former Alfa Romeo Alfasud plant, now owned by Fiat) and the aeronautic manufacturing firm Alenia Aeronautica.[2] It is also home to Elasis, Fiat's research center in southern Italy.

History

During World War II, Pomigliano was the location of a large military airfield and base, and was attacked on several occasions by the United States Army Air Forces. The airfield was later used by the USAAF Twelfth Air Force during the Italian campaign and known as Pomigliano Airfield.
