Pogorzel [pɔˈɡɔʐɛl] (German: Hegelingen, until 1906 Pogorzellen) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gołdap, within Gołdap County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.[1] It lies approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) south-east of Gołdap and 134 km (83 mi) east of the regional capital Olsztyn.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia).
