Piotr Orzechowski (born 31 December 1990, Kraków), also known by his stage name Pianohooligan, is a Polish jazz pianist and composer. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music Valencia.
Biography
A winner of the two best known competitions in Europe – "Montreux Jazz Piano Competition" and "Jazz Hoeilaart".[1][2] Finalist and winner of the most renowned Polish jazz competitions like "Jazz Juniors", "Jazz nad Odrą", "Krokus Jazz". Four times awarded scholarship by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for the most talented students.
In November 2012, Piotr Orzechowski's debut solo album with arrangements and works inspired by the œuvre of Krzysztof Penderecki was released on the Decca Classics / Universal Music Poland label. This is the first instrumental album from Poland recorded on prestigious London label Decca.
He has worked with such artists and groups as Philip Glass, Krzysztof Penderecki, Adrian Utley from Portishead, Randy Brecker, John Blackwell, Perico Sambeat, Yoron Israel, Victor Mendoza, Skalpel, Motion Trio, Jacek Kochan, Paweł Mykietyn, Sławek Jaskułke, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Adam Bałdych, Vladislav Sendecki and others.
