Peyman Yazdanian (Persian: پیمان یزدانیان , born 1968) is a famous and awarded Iranian pianist and music composer. As a composer, he has written over forty pieces for solo piano and has composed a lot for national and foreign featured films. He has also written original soundtracks for plays and multimedia. He has introduced a new form of expressionism based on Persian motives and its oriental moods.

Biography

Peyman Yazdanian was born in 1969 in Tehran. He started learning the piano at the age of 6 and continued with his master Farman Behboud up to the advanced level. At the age of 12, he started taking harmony and composition lessons from Paulus Khofri. He has taken part in a few master classes of Austrian professor Gerhard Geretschlaeger from the Konservatorium Wien University and Professor Ernest Hozel from the Graz conservatory and he has also taken an advanced stage course in Marseille with Professor Ginette Gaubert. He has taken a few Conducting lessons with Iradj Sahbai (The conductor of Strasbourg-Schiltigheim Orchestra). He has had many concerts both as a soloist and an accompanist. Taking part in the international piano competition, Concours Musical de France(CMF) held in 2000, he won the first prize and afterwards he had a recital in the French University, École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (E.N.S.T). A year before he had won the second prize in the same competition (CMF). As a composer, he has written more than forty pieces for the piano and some of them have been performed in Paris.

He has also worked for few foreign featured films like Lost in Beijing (2007-China) by Li Yu, "Summer Palace" (2006-China, France) by Lou Ye (Official selection In the Competition, Cannes film festival 2006,"Full Metal Village" (2006-Germany) by Sung-Hyung Cho, "La Fine del Mare" (2005-Germany, France) by Nora Hoppe, "Man Push Cart" (2005-USA), "Forbidden Chapter" (2004-Italy, France), .

As a composer, Yazdanian also conducted music for “Joeseph, the prophet” an Iranian TV Show directed by Farajollah Salahshoor that became famous within the Iranian people.

He got his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and now he works as a pianist, composer and piano teacher.

Yazdanian adores performing pieces by Sergei Rachmaninov.

November 2007 He had a concert in Italy at "Folk Club" in Torino, played few of his own compositions (including "A Tea Collection for a String Ensemble" and "Quintet Sonata") with an Italian quartet named "Xenia Ensemble" and played few Improvisations with an Iranian percutionist from Rome, Mohsen Kassirossafar.

Recently, he played liszt, Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninov on his Piano Recital at Grand Vahdat Hall, 3 and 4 January 2008. He also played his own suites for solo piano including: Concert suite, Expression suite, Sarrow suite and his last suite: "few Persian recipes for a French chef".

He won the First prize of the 5th Olympia film festival (December 2002) in Greece for the best Original Sound Track of the film “The little birdboy”(Dir:Rahbar Ghanbari).

A Tea Collection for A String Ensemble in six movements. It's a suite for a big string ensemble but could be played with a string quartet as well.(2007)

Played and recorded 3 Inventions, Un homage de Ravel and 15 traditional voices for piano by Irajd Sahbai in a cd which published by Kargah Musiqi.(2003)
