Pettineo (Sicilian: Pittineu) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) east of Palermo and about 110 kilometres (68 mi) west of Messina. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,502 and an area of 30.5 square kilometres (11.8 sq mi).[1]
Pettineo borders the following municipalities: Castel di Lucio, Mistretta, Motta d'Affermo, Reitano, San Mauro Castelverde, Tusa.
