Peter Hambro

Peter Charles Percival Hambro (born 18 January 1945) is one of the founders of Petropavlovsk plc, (formerly Peter Hambro Mining), a large gold mining businesses in Russia.

Career

Hambro comes from a wealthy line of Anglo-Danish merchant bankers. Educated at Eton College and Aix-Marseille University, Peter Hambro initially worked at a firm of accountants.[1] He then briefly worked at Hambros Bank before moving on to Smith St Aubyn, a discount house, where he became a Managing Director in 1973.[1] From 1985 to 1990 he worked at Mocatta & Goldsmid, a bullion house, where he became a Deputy Managing Director.[2]

He founded Peter Hambro Mining, now renamed Petropavlovsk plc, in 1994 and remains Chairman of the Board.[1]

Peter Hambro is also a non-executive chairman of Sundeala Limited and a member of the Board of several family companies.[3]

Family

In 1968 he married to Karen Brodrick and together they went on to have three sons.[2]
