Pattamundai is a town and a municipality in Kendrapara district in the Indian state of Odisha.
Geography
Pattamundai is located at 20°34′N 86°34′E / 20.57°N 86.57°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 7 m (23 ft).
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Pattamundai had a population of 32,724. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Pattamundai has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 65%. In Pattamundai, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Politics
Current MLA Sri Anshuman Mohanty (INC), Son of Late Sri Nalinikanta Mohanty defeated Sri Dhruba Ch. Sahoo (BJD)from Rajnagar Assembly Constituency. He succeeds Sri Alekh Jena of BJD, who won the seat in State elections in 2009. Previous MLAs from this seat were Tapash Kumar Das representing BJD in 2000 and representing JNP in 1977, Ganeswar Behera of [(Indian National Congress|INC)] in 1995 and in 1985, Radhakanta Sethy of CPI(M) in 1990, and Bishwanath Mallik of INC(I) in 1980.[3] Patamundai is part of Kendrapara (Lok Sabha constituency).[4]
