Patrick Ferry
The Reverend Dr. Patrick Ferry is the seventh president of Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin, where he has served since August 1997. The University is a higher education institution affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) and is the largest Lutheran school in the United States by enrollment.
Background
Ferry began his career at Concordia University Wisconsin as a Professor of History in 1991. Prior to that time, he served as an educator for the University of Wyoming (1990-1991), the campus pastor for the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming (1989-1991), and the assistant pastor at Wheat Ridge Lutheran Church in Wheat Ridge, Colorado (1987-1989).[1]
Education
Ferry earned his bachelor's degree from St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas in 1981. He completed his M.Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1987. He also earned a Ph.D. in European History from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado in 1996.[2]
Ferry has much experience in higher education. He is the board chairman for the Lutheran Educational Conference of North America (LECNA) and member of the board of Wisconsin Foundation of Independent Colleges (WFIC). Ferry also serves as a vice president of the Concordia University System of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).[3]
Religious Affiliation
Ferry is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and is a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is an ordained pastor of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.[4]
Hobbies and Interests
President Ferry is an avid runner, having completed a number of marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
