Patrick Cramer is a German biochemist. He was born 3 February 1969 in Stuttgart, he studied chemistry at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Heidelberg from 1989 till 1995. After his phd at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Grenoble till 1998, he did his postdoctoral at Stanford University from 1999 till 2001. 2001 he became Professor for biochemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. In 2014 he was appointed a director at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen.

In 2006, he received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, which is the highest honour awarded in German research. In 2009 he received the Ernst Jung Prize.
