The Pashchimanchal Campus (Nepali: पश्चिमाञ्चल क्याम्पस), formerly known as Western Region Campus (WRC) is one of the four constituent campuses of the Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering in Nepal. It is the second largest engineering campus after the Pulchowk Campus[1] in Nepal in terms of students' priority and academics. The establishment of Pashchimanchal Campus under the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University can be considered as a revolutionary steps towards meeting the demand of Technical manpower in the field of engineering for the development of the nation.
The Pashchimanchal campus became operational from 1987 with assistance from the World Bank and UNDP/ILO. Initially various traits and technician courses also were offered at this campus along with diploma courses. However, following the policy of Tribhuvan University, IOE has phased out the diploma stream and henceforth stopped enrollment in this stream after 2069 BS. The students enrolled in the diploma before 2069BS will complete their course by 2071 BS. There is one batch left to pass out from Pashchimanchal Campus as well as from other constituent campuses of IOE. Now it is offering engineering courses in different six disciplines of bachelors level.
Those Students who have passed an entrance exam conducted by IOE earlier the admission session begins are allowed to apply for admission. Students are admitted by priority selection according to their score of IOE exam. In admission process various Quotas are available for the various disadvantaged groups.
Location
The scenic Pashchimanchal Campus[2] is located in the northern part of mega-scenic city of Pokhara the regional headquarters of the Western Development Region. It enjoys the continuous roaring music of Seti River flowing nearby and the heavenly view of Machhapuchhre and many other mountains of Annapurna range. Campus is surrounded by many green hills and the greenery inside the campus itself is envy for anyone. Pashchimanchal Campus is located about 200 km west of Kathmandu, spreading on 312 ropanis land in a scenic section of Pokhara valley in the western development region of Nepal. It is on beautiful location in heart of Pokhara.

Departments
Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering
Department Of Civil Engineering is one of the pioneer departments of Pashchimanchal Campus. It is in operation since establishment of the campus. Initially, 3 years diploma course in Civil Engineering were offered. 4 years Bachelor program in Civil Engineering was lunched in 2056 B.S. Similarly, 4 years bachelor program in Geomatics Engineering was started in 2069 B.S. and the department was renamed as Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest departments of Pashchimanchal Campus. It is in operation since the establishment of the campus.Initially, 3 years diploma courses in mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering were offered. 4 years bachelor program in Mechanical Engineering was launched in 2069 B.S. Currently, the head of the mechanical department is Er. Ram Prasad Paudel.
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. It applies the principles of engineering, physics and material science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It involves the production & uses of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. Mechanical engineering today are pursuing developments in such fields as composites, mechatronics, nanotechnology and Bio medical Engineering.
Department of Electrical Engineering
Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the oldest departments of Pashchimanchal Campus. It is in operation since the establishment of the campus.Initially, 3 years of diploma course in Electrical Engineering was offered.4 years bachelor program in Electrical Engineering was launched in 2067 B.S.
Electrical Engineering generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. It deals mainly with the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electric power.A power system network is a complex system with thousands of devices connected.Electrical engineers are involved in the design, operation and maintenance of power system networks using modern and sophisticated equipment and software. They also work in the field of renewable energies.Electrical engineers also have opportunities in the field of specialized power systems such as those used in aircraft or for railway networks.
Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering
The invention and fast growth of information and communication technology has brought significant changes in all walks of life. These are new opportunities and challenges that need to be faced to place country in the global map of ICT.This department was established in 2053 B.S. with the motto of providing quality technical education in the field of electronics & communication and computer engineering. Initially, 3 years diploma courses in Electronics & Communication and Computer Engineering were offered.4 years bachelor program was in 2062 B.S. where as 4 years bachelor program in Computer Engineering was launched in 2069 B.S.
Courses offered
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics and communication Engineering (4 years, Day shift)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering (4 years, Day shift)
RTCU Services
Department has separate Research training and Consultancy works, training and consultancy services in following area. Computer Programming (C, C++, VB, Java), Oracle, Linux, Windows Advance Server, Computer repair and Maintenance, Computer Networking, Radio and TV maintenance, Electronics Project Design, Micro-Controller interfacing.
Center of Information Technology(CIT): CIT is one of the major online resource center in this institution. it is facilitated with 12/12 Mbit/s of dedicated wire (optical fibre backbone ) and wireless facilities to hostels and administration. CIT, not only provides internet facilities, but also conducts training on different engineering packages of information technology. It has more than 50 advance terminals connected to Broadband Internet via wireless. It is hoped that CIT will boost up the student's academic and research career and will enhance faculties' strength as well.
Department of Engineering Science & Humanities
Basic sciences and mathematics courses are the foundation of engineering courses.Excellency in subjects like mathematics, physics and chemistry is necessary for a person to be a good engineer.Department of Engineering Science & Humanities of Pashchimanchal Campus is in existence since the establishment of the campus. This department also manages the courses like Communication English which is necessary to develop language and communication skills in students.Such skills aids them to be globally competitive.
