Parithi Ilamvazhuthi or Parithi Ellamvazhuthi (born in Chennai, on 11 November 1959) is an Indian politician. He has finished his school education till SSLC from Welsey High School, before moving into political life. He has been elected to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for a total of six times. He was the Deputy Speaker in the 11th assembly in years between 1996-2001 and was the Minister for Information Broadcasting & Publicity between 2006-2011. He was the Member of Legislative Assembly continuously for 28 Years (1984-2011) as DMK Candidate. At the age of 25, he first tasted his success to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly by defeating Sathyavani Muthu, ADMK's prominent Dalit face during 1984 from Perambur. Afterwards, he represented Egmore from 1989 to 2011. He was referred as Indrajith and Veera Abhimanyu of DMK by M.Karunanidhi for his performances as the Opposition Member of Legislative Assembly during 1991-1996. He lost the 2011 Egmore assembly elections to the DMDK candidate K.Nallathambi in his seventh attempt. He served as the Deputy General Secretary of DMK. He moved from Dravida Munetra Kazhagam political party to ADMK political party on 28/06/13 and was made the Chief Executive Committee Member of ADMK the next day.[1] [2]
