Pancha-Dravida

Pancha Dravida is one of the two major groupings of Brahmins in Hinduism, of which the other was Pancha-Gauda.

According to Kalhana's Rajatarangini, the Pancha Dravida group includes the following five Brahmin communities residing to the south of the Vindhyas:[1][2]

  1. Gurjara (Gujarati Brahmins)
  2. Maharashtraka (Maharashtrian Brahmins)
  3. Karnataka (Kannada Brahmins)
  4. Talianga (Telugu Brahmins)
  5. Dravida (Brahmins of Tamil Nadu and Kerala)
