PTV Sports is a 24-hour Pakistani sports channel; owned by PTV Network. PTV Sports was launched on 14 January 2012. Its test transmission began in December 2011 on Asia Sat. It is a state-owned channel. PTV Sports has telecast many sports events since it is launched. It has also got rights of many sports events like cricket, tennis, hockey and football.

Broadcasting rights

PTV Sports have rights of all matches of Pakistan cricket up to 2016 and all matches of Pakistan Super League up to 2018. PTV will also show the 2016 Olympics and all of the major tournaments of ICC up to 2016. PTV Sports have rights all events of FIH men and women.

Faysal Bank T20 Cup 2012/13

The biggest achievement of PTV Sports was that, they were the official broadcasters of Pakistan's domestic T20 tournament i.e. 2012–13 Faysal Bank T20 Cup. The tournament took place at Gaddaffi Stadium, Bagh-e-Jinnah and LCCA Ground, all in Lahore, 1–9 December 2012. The winner of this tournament received Rs.20 million and a trophy. The tournament consisted of 14 teams which were equally distributed in two groups; A and B. Group A consisted of Abbottabad Falcons, Islamabad Leopards, Karachi Zebras, Lahore Lions, Multan Tigers, Quetta Bears and Sialkot Stallions. Group B consisted of Bahawalpur Stags, Faisalabad Wolves, Hyderabad Hawks, Karachi Dolphins, Lahore Eagles, Peshawar Panthers and Rawalpindi Rams. The top two teams of each groups were qualified for the semi-finals and the winners of the semi-finals were contested in the final to decide the winner of this tournament. Lahore Lions lifted the trophy by beating Faisalabad Wolves in the final by 33 runs, under the captaincy of Mohammad Hafeez, after Mohammad Yousuf who passed his captaincy to Mohammad Hafeez. PTV Sports broadcast only those matches that were played at Gaddaffi Stadium, in Urdu and Punjabi language. English Commentary Language was broadcast on PTV Global. The tournament was also broadcast on the official website of PTV Sports.[5]

Friends Life T20 2013

The fourth edition the English domestic T20 tournament[6] i.e. Friends Life t20 was broadcast on PTV Sports. However, due to the Wimbledon, not all matches were broadcast live. These matches were broadcast later that night. Three Pakistanis played the tournament; Yasir Arafat for Somerset, Sohail Tanvir for Hampshire Royals and fully qualified English cricketer Azhar Mahmood for Surrey.

Game On Ha!

Game On Ha! Is an analysis program of PTV Sports. The Show is hosted by Dr. Nauman Niaz and is accompanied by Saqlain Mushtaq, Javed Miandad and other Guest retired cricketers from Different countries. In World Cup 2015 Ggame On Ha hosted Herschelle Gibbs Jonty Rhodes and in Zimbabwe Tour of Pakistan it Hosted Alastair Campbell (cricketer) In Sirilankan Tour of Pakistan It Hosted Sanath Jayasuriya and in England Tour of UAE Guests were Dean Jones, Mark Butcher and Herschelle Gibbs

Sports Circle

Sports Circle is the flagship program of PTV Sports. The show is hosted by Muhammad Ali Sanwal and he is accompanied by retired cricketer Aamir Sohail. The show was previously hosted by Nauman Niaz. There are several other programs catering to other sports events such as field hockey.

Keh Dein Jo Kehna Hai

This is a new program started on PTV Sports. The host of this program is Mirza Iqbal Baig. They discuss over cricket, hockey and other sports.
