PLO Negotiations Affairs Department
The PLO Negotiation Affairs Department (PLO-NAD) is the organisation that represents the Palestine Liberation Organization in the peace negotiations between Palestine and Israel. It was established in 1994 to follow up on the implementation of the Oslo Accords.[1]
Until mid-2003, the NAD was headed by current Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and then Secretary-General of the PLO Executive Committee. He was succeeded by Saeb Erekat in 2003.[1] On 11 February 2011, Erekat resigned as chief Palestinian negotiator, citing the release of the Palestine Papers and due to an internal Palestinian investigation that suggested the Palestine Papers leak had come from a source inside Erekat's office.[2][3] As of July 2013, however, Erekat was still holding the function of chief Palestinian negotiator.[4]
