Second Army (Austria-Hungary)

The Austro-Hungarian Second Army was an Austro-Hungarian field army that fought during World War I.

Actions

The Austro-Hungarian Second Army was formed in 1914 and was meant to participate in the Serbian Campaign.
But because of the severe defeat of the Third Army in the Battle of Gnila Lipa, it was urgently dispatched to the Russian Front in Galicia. It remained active on the Russian Front until the end of the war. After the Armistice with Russia and the occupation of Ukraine, the Second Army was disbanded in May 1918 and became an occupation army, named the k.u.k. Ost-Armee , under command of Alfred Krauss.
