Osaka Pro Wrestling is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion, founded in 1998 by Super Delfin. In 2010 Osaka Pro started a close working relationship with American promotion Chikara. On March 1, 2014, it was announced that the promotion would be folding due to financial difficulties on April 20, 2014, after which all of its wrestlers would become freelancers.[1] However, after securing a new sponsor, it was announced that Osaka Pro Wrestling would continue under the new regime of president Yuji Sakagami and wrestlers Kuishinbo Kamen and Takoyakida. The new Osaka Pro Wrestling lost many of the old one's key wrestlers as well as their home base of Nasci Hall Umeda, forcing them to employ a new tour format.[2]

History

Super Delfin Onwership (1999-2008)

In late 1999 Super Delfin, Gran Naniwa, Masato Yakushiji, Naohiro Hoshikawa, Masaru Seno, and the trainee Hayato Kigawa (who later became Super Dolphin, Kajin Habu Otoko, HUB), and referee Yukinori Matsui and they all leave Michinoku Pro Wrestling to form Osaka Pro Wrestling. On January 4 2000 they crowned the first championship the Osaka Pro Wrestling Championship which was won by Super Delphin. On March 30 to May 1 they held their first tournament 1st Year Anniversary Celebration Tag Tournament which was won by Dick Togo and Black Buffalo. On July to August Takehiro Murahama turn prfessional wrestling and joined to the promotion. On September 16 to October 15 they held their first anual tournament Tenno-Zan and the winner was Naohiro Hoshikawa. On 2001 it was crowned their second title the OPW Osaka World's Best Attraction Championship (later renamed to Osaka World's Best Attraction Championship and Osaka Meibutsu Sekaiichi Championship) and it was won by Kuishinbo Kamen and they held their second and anual tag team tournament Osaka Tag Festival and the winners were Daio QUALLT & Gamma and after they won the tournament it was awarded their first tag team titles the Osaka Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships,during the Osaka Tag Festival it was crowned their other title the Osaka Pro Wrestling Battle Royal Championship it was won by Miracle Man. On 2003 they held the Osaka Singles Title Tournament for the vancated Osaka Pro Wrestling Championship and Takehiro Murahama won the tournament and it was crowned Osaka Pro Wrestling Championship and they signed Yoshimoto Kogyo for the management contract they won a costumer base with focus on famailies, but Kogyo withdrawed of the company due to the bankrupt of the festival gate and later that year they started Interpromotional feud against Michinoku Pro Wrestling. In late 2005 Daio QUALLT leave the promotion and retires and later that year they crowned their first junior title named MWF World Junior Heavyweight Championship won by El Oriental. In late 2007 Takehiro Murahama leave the promotion and retires. On 2008 the owner and founder of Osaka Pro Wrestling announced a new project called Okinawa Pro Wrestling and in would be in the capital of Okinawa in their headquarters, and Super Delfin, Osaka Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions Zero and GAINA, Robert Tanaka, trainee Tomoya Kinukawa, and the MWF World Junior Heavyweight Championship Condor (later in Okinawa Pro Wrestling renamed to Goya Mask) and Delphin brought the MWF World Junior Heavyweight Championship with him and the promotion was bought by Yuji Sakagami.

Yuji Sakagami Onwership (2008-Present)

On April 29 Kanjyuro Matsuyama defeated Kuishinbo Kamen for the Osaka Meibutsu Sekaiichi Championship and after the match Matsuyama retired the title immediately and declared himself the first Osaka Pro Wrestling Owarai Championship. On 2009 they created their 6th title named Tenpohzan Grand Prix Championship an it was won by Miracle Man, later that year after the death of Mitsuharu Misawa on a Saturday it was announced that Osaka Pro Wrestling Head Referee Ted Tanabe died on a Sunday at a hospital in Osaka. On 2010 Osaka Pro Wrestling started a close working relationship with American promotion Chikara, and they used the UWA World Trios Championship when Atsushi Kotoge, Daisuke Harada & Takoyakida defeated Tokyo Gurentai (FUJITA, Mazada & Nosawa Rongai) but the titles return the titles to DDT after Ebessan (III), Kanjyuro Matsuyama and Kuishinbo Kamen lost the UWA World Trios Chamiponship to Tokyo Gurentai (FUJITA, MAZADA & NOSAWA Rongai),and they also started to promote the Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship as their champions after Tigers Mask defeated Marines Mask II. On 2011 at June they left the Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship. On 2012 Atsushi Kotoge leave Osaka Pro Wrestling to Pro Wrestling Noah. On April 29 2013 Daisuke Harada announced that he was not re-signing and left to Pro Wrestling Noah, and Kuuga HAYATA, Hideyoshi, Masamune and Orochi all members of JOKER and a couple of other talent left the promotion to form Doutonbori Pro Wrestling, and Daisuke Harada,Tadasuke and HAYATA and they return the Osaka Pro Wrestling Championship and the Osaka Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship,and the roster was reduce to 12 full-time wrestlers. In late 2014 Osaka Pro Wrestling announced that it will no longer hold in April in the Nasci Hall Umeda. The hall was since 2012 the home of the promotion and offered a framework for almost all show the Chief Executive Officer Yuji Sakaguchi said that both Osaka Pro Wrestling and the wrestlers want to pursue other tasks organize in the future in various venues in the area around Osaka, and Osaka Pro Wrestling frequently moved in recent months not even 100 fans in the hall, some were present even below 50 spectators. On March 1, 2014, Black Buffalo, as the vice president of Osaka Pro Wrestling, announced that the promotion would be folding due to financial difficulties on April 20 2014, after which all of its wrestlers would become freelancers,and The Big Guns (Zeus and The Bodyguard) vancated the Osaka Pro Wrestling Championship and the Osaka Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship and Tigers Mask vancated the Osaka Pro Wrestling Battle Royal Championship, later in 2014 It was announced that the Osaka Pro Wrestling Battle Royal Championship would become inactive. However, after securing a new sponsor, it was announced that Osaka Pro Wrestling would continue under the new regime of president Yuji Sakagami and wrestlers Kuishinbo Kamen and Takoyakida. The new Osaka Pro Wrestling lost many of the old one's key wrestlers as well as their home base of Nasci Hall Umeda, forcing them to employ a new tour format. On 2015 It was announced that the Osaka Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships were declared inactive,and it was announced that it would be the return of Tennozan and it will be held to September 21 to January 31 2016 and the winner will win the Osaka Pro Wrestling Champion. On January 31 Tadasuke won the Osaka Pro Wrestling Champion.
