Local elections in Ormoc City, Leyte will be held on May 9, 2016 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, one Congresswoman for the province' 4th district, and the councilors.
Background
Incumbent city mayor Edward Codilla will run for re-election on his post, he will run against his opponent in the 2013 election race, actor and sportsman Richard Gomez. Codilla will run under the Liberal Party, while Gomez will run under the Nationalist People's Coalition.[1]
Codilla defeated Gomez, in the 2013 elections with a slim margin of 2, 248 votes.[2]
In the Leyte province's 4th district, wives of the Ormoc mayoralty contenders will head-to-head in the congressional elections, the incumbent congresswoman Lucy Torres Gomez will run for the Liberal Party, will run against Codilla's wife, Violy Codilla who will run under the UNA.[1][3]
