Ora Carew (August 13, 1893, Salt Lake City - October 26, 1955, Los Angeles) born Ora Whytock was a silent film actress.

Biography

She starred in several films between 1915 and 1925 when she retired from the industry. She was known as one of the Sennett Bathing Beauties.

Ora Carew was born 13 April 1891 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James LeRoy and Evelyn Garn Whytock. She was educated by private tutors and at Roland Hall Seminary. After her father passed away 19 June 1896, Evelyn moved with her three children to California. Ora's screen career began with Goldwyn, following numerous engagements in vaudeville, musical comedy and stock. Some of the greatest film productions in which she had been seen on the screen are Go West, Young Man, Too Many Millions, and with Universal she did Love's ProtegĂ©, Loot, Under Suspicion, and others. She was 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m) tall, weighed 120 pounds (54 kg), and had brown hair and brown eyes. She was exceptionally fond of outdoor sports and found her greatest pleasure in motoring around Hollywood and Los Angeles in her raceabout.

Ora Whytock was married to Harry E Grant 15 June 1908 in El Paso, TX. They had one daughter, Lotus Grant, who was born October 20, 1909 and died June 25, 2007 in Sherman Oaks, California. Ora was eighteen when Lotus was born. Ora and Harry divorced before 1920. Ora then married John C Howard in Dec 1922 in Hollywood, California and they divorced in 1924.

Her brother was the film editor Grant Whytock (1894-1981)
