Fantasy Zone: The Maze, known in Japan as Opa Opa (オパオパ) is a video game published by Sega in 1987, originally as an arcade game. Between 1987 and 1989 the game was published in the various markets console conversion for Sega Master System. It is known to many fans as Fantasy Zone III.

Unlike the other Fantasy Zone games which were Cute 'em ups, Fantasy Zone: The Maze is a maze game.

Gameplay

Fantasy Zone: The Maze, as the title suggests, is a maze game. It has a style similar to Pac-Man. However, instead of collecting dots, you collect coins so you could spend them for weapons either in the stages, or in the shop before the stage starts. In the middle of these mazes, enemies spawn by a dot. The dot will turn to red overtime, and if it's completely red, an enemy will spawn. The only way you could stop this is by passing through the dot, and if you do, the process will start all over again. When you finish a stage, you will get a certain amount of points in the end, depending on how long you took the complete the level.

There are also bonus stages in the game where you must collect a certain amount of coins in a limited time.

This game allows you to play with two people, and they are two separate characters. Player 1 is Opa-Opa (the red spaceship) while Player 2 is Upa-Upa. (Opa-Opa's blue spaceship brother)

Ports

The Sega Master System port, and the original arcade versions were featured in Fantasy Zone: Complete Collection for the PlayStation 2.
