On the Ball is a football management game from the German developers Ascaron, former name Ascon. The original titel is Anstoss. The player is managing a football club in the English League and in the original version, the Bundesliga to get the Bundestrainer.

Gameplay

The player choose a team in the main menu which has the look of an office. As manager the player does not only elect the football players in the team, but also run a stadion with the price management and the transfer of players. The football games can be presentated in different forms. In a quick mode is only the resumee of the simulated game available. Then there is a text mode were the games is presentated an commentated in a text form and the last one has the text and some pictures of a game. The tactic of the own team could be changed and players could be switched. The career is limited to ten seasons.

Reception

The game was very popular in Germany, so the developer Ascaron made at irregular intervals sequels till the company got insolvency. The English version has a minor unique fan base.[1]
