Norton Security, developed by Symantec Corporation, is a computer program that provides malware prevention and removal during a subscription period and uses signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features included in the product are a personal firewall, email spam filtering, and phishing protection.
The program was released on 23 September 2014, replacing Norton 360, Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus.[2] When compared to Norton's former products, Norton Security came with improved scalability, and protection and a money back guarantee.[3]
It is available as a standard version (two subversions: for 1 and 5 devices respectively) and another with an online back-up service, known as 'Norton Security with Backup' (includes protection for up to 10 devices). In terms of some similarities and differences, Norton Security keeps all the components of Norton Internet Security (including the antivirus, firewall and identity theft components) and adds the "tune up utilities" component of Norton 360. Norton Security with Backup therefore essentially replaces Norton 360. All versions include protection for Windows, OS X, Android, and iOS based devices. Software features are different depending on the operating system platform that the program is used on.
