Norðfjarðargöng is a tunnel under construction in Iceland, located in Eastern Region along Route 92. It will have a length of 7,000 m (22,966 ft) and was originally due to be completed in 2014.[1] After delays, prompting protests by residents of the area,[2] it is now expected to open in September 2017.[3] Norðfjarðargöng will connect the communities of Neskaupstaður and Eskifjörður, replacing the Oddsskarðsgöng tunnel.[2]
