Development and production
Nomads first appeared on The CW's development slate in mid-February 2010 when the network ordered a pilot presentation.[2][3] Casting announcements were made in March. The first actor cast was Scott Porter, who landed a leading role playing John Virgil.[4] Michaela McManus and Warren Kole joined the cast a few weeks later.[5][6] Luke Ford and Gabriella Wright completed the main cast at the end of March.[7][8] The pilot was filmed in Thailand.[5][9][10] It was directed by Ken Sanzel, who also wrote the pilot script.[2]
At The CW upfront presentations in mid-May 2010, the network announced which shows would be included in the 2010-11 television season.[11][12] Nomads was not included in the fall lineup, nor was it listed as a midseason replacement.
