Nobuo Kubota

Nobuo Kubota (born 1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian multi-media artist.[1]

Life

Kubota practiced architecture before turning to the arts in 1969. With funding from the Canada Council, he travelled to Japan and studied art with a Zen master in Kyoto.

Work

His work often combines sound, music, installation and film, a practice that he labels 'intermedia'. He received the Governor General's award for the arts in 2009.[2] His work is held in numerous collections including the National Gallery of Canada.[3] He was made a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.[4]
