Hissartang is one of the 3rd biggest village of the town Nizampur(Khwara), preceded by Nizampur village and Kahi. According to locals the name Hissartang was given to it by great pashtoon(Khattak) leader Khushal Khan Khattak. Thus the name itself is a collection of two words Hissar means Fort and Tang means Narrow or Closed; most probably because of its geographic position being the best strategic position for attacking the enemy and comeback operations. Hissartang is like the most typical villages of the town having one boys High School and Girls Middle School. The village is best known for its centrality and local gathering in its epicenter called Khwar. Traditionally the Khwar is the gathering area during festivities and local celebrations like Eid and other events. Khwar can be used by anyone to sit, eat, chat, buy vegetables etc. Beside this Hissartang Khwar is also used for political gatherings and discussion on topic of common concerns amongst the villagers. The village is well known for its hospitality and hosting sport events specially the historic winter holidays cricket tournament because of having one of the largest cricket playground and beautiful location at foot hills.
