Niki Tobi

Niki Tobi, CON (born July 14, 1940) is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.[1] Tobi was born in Esanma, Bomadi LGA in what is now Delta State. Prior to his career in the bench, he was the dean of Faculty of Law and deputy vice-chancellor (academic services), University of Maiduguri. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2002.[1]

He is known for his legal erudity, and wide knowledge of legal principles. He is currently blind. Justice Tobi is a living legend that changed the face of Nigerian courts. His judgments are flowery and insightful and are a favourite among lawyers, law teachers, researchers' and law student many of whom adore and dream of matching his judicial heights...his exit from the bench has left a hole too big to fill.
