Nictaux

Nictaux in Nova Scotia

Nictaux is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in Annapolis County . There are two main roads which pass through Nictaux; Highway 10 and Highway 201. All of the subdivisions and side roads attach to one or both of these roads. Since the Nictaux school was closed in the 1990s, the children there have been bused across the Annapolis River to Middleton. The community does however maintain its own volunteer fire department. It is generally found by taking highway 101 to Middleton then taking the #10 across the river. The word Nictaux comes from the Mi'kmaq word Niktak, meaning 'The forks of a river'.
