Ness Middle School (NMS) is a middle school at 3300 Ness Ave. in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The principal of Ness is Mrs. Tammy Baydock. Ness Middle School sports teams are called the "Ness Knights" and the mascot is Nestor Knight. Generally, students from this school moving to grade 9 attend John Taylor Collegiate. School Information

Ness offers grade 6/7 combined classes. The classes focus on inquiry based learning and layered assessments that individualize learning for all students. The combined grade 6/7 classes allow for peer mentoring and increased teaching time. Powerschool is the program used by teachers to take attendance and assess students. The Powerschool Parent Portal allows for parents and students to follow their progress in real time. Please see the office for more information on how you can follow your child at Ness.

Music Programs

Mrs. Walker runs the Ness Music program. The Ness Music program includes concert bands at grade 6, 7 and 8. There is also a percussion ensemble, jazz band and brass quintet. The choirs include Vocal Jazz and Concert Choir. Ness also offers a rock school program, which is run by Mr.Wayne Zelisney. The school has a dozen guitars purchased for the rock school and guitar club programs. The rock school also has its own recording studio. Athletic teams

Mr. Irvine runs the Ness Phys. Ed. Department. Ness has a rich history in athletics. The Tier 1 boys are currently the 3 time defending divisional champions in basketball. Ness is the defending provincial handball champions as well. This year the Ness boys won another divisional volleyball title in a fantastic run up to provincials. Unfortunately the boys came up one win short, finishing second in the province. Ness is also the defending divisional champions in badminton. Ness also has a fully functional fitness centre in the basement, complete with treadmills, elipticals, stationary bikes, universal gyms, and free weights. A full set of resistance bands and yoga equipment is also housed in the fitness centre. Below are some of the extracurricular sports offered at Ness.

There are many many clubs and extracurricular activities offered at Ness. Below are some of the many.

Upon arriving at Ness, students are sorted into houses. Each house sports a different colour and students compete with other members of their house for points. The current houses are the Dragons, Crusaders, and Wizards.
