Neely is an unincorporated community in Greene County, Mississippi, United States.[1] Its ZIP code is 39461.[2]
Originally known as Washington, the town was renamed for C.J. Neely, the first postmaster.[3] Neely was a stop on the Gulf, Mobile & Northern Railroad, which later became the Illinois Central Railroad.[4]
Ed Freeman, a U.S. Army helicopter pilot awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle of Ia Drang during the Vietnam War, was born in Neely.[5]
