National P. G. College, Lucknow(Hindi: नेशनल पी॰ जी॰ कालेज, लखनऊ) is the only autonomous college of University of Lucknow.^[3] The College offers under-graduate and post-graduate courses in Commerce and Arts faculties and under-graduate courses in Science and Computer faculties. College is also known as NPGC or National Post Graduate College, Lucknow.

National P. G. College rated second best college in the country. It has been awarded "grade A" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC),^[4] with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.20, second best after a college in Bangalore.

The College has the honor of interacting with students from developed countries. A group of Japanese students recently came to interact with the students of National P. G. College and shared their experiences about learning of Hindi.

History

It was established in the year 1974 by former Chief-minister of Uttar Pradesh, Late Shri Chandra Bhanu Gupta.

Campus

The College is situated on the bank of river Gomti. The college has lush green surroundings. The college has well equipped Laboratories in all the faculties.The Library well arranged and besides text books latest edition of reference books are available, Journals and other papers are continuously being added to the research section. In keeping with the modern digital technology and computer education, the college has computer has a computer training center with latest hardware configuration and software.The campus has also being transformed into a Wi-Fi campus. The college also lays special emphasis on continuing (adult education) After the establishment of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University at Allahabad the college has been its study center for Lucknow and surrounding districts.

Hostel

In order to cater to the residential requirements of the students there is hostel facility for boys and girls separately. Currently there are 46 rooms in the girls hostel with a total capacity of 138. In the boys’ hostel there are 50 rooms with the capacity of 100.

Library

Students have access to a lending library, reference library, paperback library, non-print media library and a vast treasure of journals, current and back volumes. The main College library has a vast collection of over 25,000 volumes, some of which date back to the 18th century. A pleasant, inviting area, the library at National PG College is a garden of knowledge. The Library itself breathes an air of distinction and studiousness and is much frequented during free lectures. The beautifully carved cabinet with the card index of library books is symbolic of the refinement and learning fostered in the college.

In 2014, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rated it as second best college in the country. It has been awarded "grade A" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC),^[4] with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.20, second best after a college in Bangalore.

India Today's ranking

In 2015, India Today magazine ranked National P. G. College, Lucknow 26th in all India^[5] and 1st in both Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh in its yearly ranking of Commerce Colleges.

Students can opt for either Education or Psychology: Both the subjects cannot be offered together. Students who have passed their intermediate examination with science are required to offer at least one practical subject.

Placement

Observing and appreciating the high academic competence, intelligence and discipline among the meritorious students of the college , various Multinational organizations and other institutions have been doing recruitment in the past few years. In the previous academic year 2012-13, 170 students got placement with a minimum package of 2,50,000 per annum.
