Nathaniel is a 2015 Philippine fantasy drama television series directed by Darnel Joy Villaflor and Francis Pasion, starring Marco Masa in his first lead role as Nathaniel, an angel who has a mission to return to earth and restore the belief of humanity in God and remind them about the innate goodness that everyone possesses in their hearts.[1] The series was aired on ABS-CBN and worldwide on The Filipino Channel from April 20, 2015 to September 25, 2015, replacing Dream Dad.[2]
Synopsis
This is the story of Nathaniel, son of Paul (Gerald Anderson) and Rachel (Shaina Magdayao) Laxamana. As a baby, Nathaniel will be involved in an accident, which will cost him his life. And because Nathaniel died a pure soul, he became an Angel upon reaching Heaven. When Nathaniel (Marco Masa) was already 7 years old, he will be sent down to Earth for a mission – to restore Man's faith in God, and to remind Man of their inner goodness, which they may have already forgotten.
Nathaniel ends up in Bayan ng Laging Saklolo, wherein he will be adopted by the Bartolome family, which includes Abner (Benjie Paras), Beth (Pokwang), Dimas (Jason Gainza), Hannah (Sharlene San Pedro), and Abi (Yesha Camile). With them, Nathaniel learns the value of having a family. During Nathaniel's stay here, he will be able to help some people, including his real mother, Rachel, who is now separated from Paul.
As Nathaniel continues with his mission, he learns that the root of all evil in town is none other than his real father, Paul, and his grandmother, AVL (Coney Reyes). Because of this, Nathaniel will do everything in his power to stop Paul and AVL from spreading more evil, not knowing that by doing so, he is pushing Paul further away from Rachel. However, an evil entity known as the Tagasundo (Leo Martinez, later Baron Geisler) emerges and takes human form on Earth with a mission opposite to Nathaniel, to sway humanity from the path of good and will serve as an obstacle to Nathaniel's mission.
